Welcome to The Nest

A Franklin County School District 21st Century Community Learning Center, The Nest provides free academic instruction and enrichment classes for students in grades PreK-8, as well as educational opportunities for adult family members. Our students participate in art, technology, recreation, and health classes, and develop their reading, math and science skills, with instruction by certified teachers. A year-long service learning project teaches students to sew blankets, stuffed animals and other items for underprivileged children and families. Free snacks are provided daily.

What is The Nest? The Nest is a Franklin County School District 21st Century Community Learning Center, which provides free academic instruction and enrichment classes for students in grades PreK-8, as well as educational opportunities for adult family members of regularly participating students. This years classes will include art, technology, recreation, dance, fitness and sewing. Free snacks are provided daily.When does the program begin?The Nest begins the second week of school, on Monday, August 29.Where is The Nest located?The Nest has two locations, the Franklin County Learning Center, located at 85 School Road, Suite 1, in Eastpoint; and the Carrabelle Municipal Complex, located at 1001 Gray Avenue in Carrabelle. Times are 2:00-5:30 p.m. at the Learning Center and 2:45-5:45 p.m. at the Carrabelle Municipal Complex. Does The Nest provide transportation?The school district provides bus transportation to both Nest locations. Pre-K students at the Learning Center who live in Eastpoint will enter The Nest immediately when school dismisses. Students in grades K-8 will be bused to the site of their parents choosing, either the Learning Center or Carrabelle Municipal Complex. PLEASE NOTE: Bus transportation is not available to take students home at the end of the program day. Parents must pick their child up when the program ends, or indicate on The Nest registration form that their child can walk home. Only authorized persons will be allowed to pick up a student from the program. The December newsletters showcase the festive tree trimming parties held in both Eastpoint and Carrabelle locations at the beginning of the month. The students and their families crafted a colorful collection of ornaments - from snappy dressing gingerbread men to angels complete with golden halos.

The newsletters also detail the exciting enrichment activities offered at The Nest. Students are sewing, learning to type, comparing food labels for nutritional content and expanding their knowledge of colors, artists and styles in art class.
